Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of textsummarizer.net ("the Service"), including its free pages, signed-in dashboard, paid Starter and Pro plans, and the Chat-with-PDF feature. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old (or such higher age as required by your local law) to use the Service. By using the Service you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

2. The Service

The Service uses AI models to generate text summaries from content you submit (pasted text, a public URL for URL or article summarization, or a supported document file), and — on the Pro plan — lets you ask follow-up questions about a PDF you've uploaded ("Chat with PDF"). The Service operates as a hosted SaaS application and is delivered through:

• Free pages: home, TLDR, AI PDF Summarizer, and Chat with PDF (free preview with limits).
• The signed-in Dashboard for account, billing address and password management.
• The Pro workspace at /pro, including the unified Summarizer Pro and Chat with PDF tools.

We reserve the right to add, change, or remove features — including the free pages — with reasonable notice for changes that materially affect paid features.

3. Accounts

You can use the free tier anonymously, subject to daily limits (section 6). Our free Chat with PDF preview also works without an account (subject to its own caps). To subscribe to a paid plan or to use Pro Chat with PDF, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current and complete information at registration.
• Keep your password confidential and secure, and notify us promptly of any suspected unauthorized access.
• Use one account per person; sharing a single paid account across multiple unrelated people is not permitted.
• Take responsibility for all activity under your account.

4. Plans, billing & renewals

4.1 Plans

The Service offers a free tier and two paid plans:

• Starter — $4.99 / month (or yearly, with our published yearly discount).
• Pro — $9.99 / month (or yearly, with our published yearly discount).

Current prices, features and limits are listed on the Pricing page. We may change prices for future renewals on reasonable notice; the price you've already paid for the current period is not affected.

4.2 Billing

Billing is processed by our payment processor and merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy. By subscribing, you authorize Lemon Squeezy to charge your selected payment method for the chosen plan and cycle. Taxes are calculated and remitted by Lemon Squeezy where applicable. Receipts and invoices are emailed to you from Lemon Squeezy.

4.3 Renewals

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle (monthly or yearly) at the then-current price until you cancel. To avoid the next renewal, cancel before the renewal date.

4.4 Trials and promotions

From time to time we may offer trials or promotional pricing. Unless stated otherwise, trials convert into a paid subscription at the end of the trial period.

5. Cancellation & refunds

You can cancel at any time from the customer portal link in any Lemon Squeezy billing email, or by emailing [email protected]. Cancellation stops future renewals; paid features remain available until the end of the period you've already paid for.

Our refund terms (including the 7-day money-back window for first-time subscribers and what is excluded) are described in the Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

6. Plan limits & fair use

The Service applies per-plan limits to keep it fast and reliable for everyone:

• Free tier: up to 1,500 words per summary and 5 AI summaries per day.
• Starter: up to 50,000 words per summary and 50 AI summaries per day.
• Pro: up to 50,000 words per summary, unlimited AI summaries, and access to Chat with PDF.
• File-extraction throughput on the Pro tier is higher than on the free tier.

Even where a plan is described as "unlimited", that means there is no fixed daily cap — it is not a license to abuse the Service. We may apply reasonable technical limits (rate-limiting, throttling, temporary suspension) to accounts or IP addresses that generate traffic outside normal human use, including scripted bulk-submission, automated scraping, distributed accounts, or attempts to bypass plan limits.

7. Your content

"Your Content" means any text, URL, file or message you submit through the Service.

• Ownership. You keep all rights in Your Content. We don't claim ownership over it.
• License to us. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, transmit, display and otherwise use Your Content only to operate, secure and improve the Service for you. This includes sending Your Content to our AI sub-processor (see our Privacy Policy, sections 5 and 6).
• Your representations. You confirm that you have all rights and permissions necessary to submit Your Content and that Your Content does not violate any law or third-party right.
• Storage and retention. See the Privacy Policy for how long different categories of Your Content are kept.

8. AI output & accuracy

Summaries and Chat-with-PDF answers ("Output") are generated by large language models. Output can be incorrect, incomplete, biased or out of date, and may include fabrications even when it sounds confident.

• Always review Output before relying on it.
• Output is not professional advice. Don't use the Service as a substitute for legal, medical, financial, safety-critical, or other regulated advice.
• You're responsible for how you use the Output.
• Two users submitting similar inputs may receive similar Output. We don't guarantee uniqueness or non-similarity.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Break any law, infringe anyone's rights, or facilitate someone else doing so.
• Generate or distribute content that is illegal, sexually exploitative of minors, defamatory, harassing, or that promotes violence or self-harm.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape or otherwise extract our underlying systems, prompts, or models, or use the Service to train a competing AI model.
• Submit content that contains malware, credentials, or sensitive personal data of others without authority.
• Interfere with the Service, its security, or any other user's enjoyment of it — including by evading plan limits, rate limits, or access controls.
• Resell or sub-license the Service or its Output as a stand-alone product.

We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate this section.

10. Intellectual property

The Service, including its UI, code, design, branding, and content authored by us, is owned by Text Summarizer and its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights in our IP except the limited right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. The textsummarizer.net name and logo may not be used without prior written consent.

11. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers (notably OpenAI for AI processing, Lemon Squeezy for payments and billing, and Cloudflare for traffic protection). Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy notices. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of these providers.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither Text Summarizer nor its operators, suppliers or licensors will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunities, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations on liability; in those cases the limitations above apply to the maximum extent permitted.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Text Summarizer and its operators from and against any claims, damages, liabilities and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from (i) your breach of these Terms, (ii) Your Content, or (iii) your misuse of the Service.

15. Termination

You may stop using the Service or close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if your account is used fraudulently, or if required by law. On termination, sections that by their nature should survive (e.g., content licenses to the extent needed to wind down, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be brought to your attention in-app or by email where reasonable. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

17. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of the Service is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before filing any formal claim, please contact us at [email protected] — most issues can be resolved quickly and informally. If we can't resolve it that way, the courts of that jurisdiction will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except where mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country of residence grant you additional rights.
